A "Why I live in San Francisco" New Years Eve

As I was walking to my local market to pick up some last minute items for my Pie A La Lu, Itook stock of what was around me. It was a beautiful sunny day. People were flooding out of the park; going on runs; eating outside at the local cafe. It was pretty unbelievable!

In my quest to find a hairstyle that inspires me for New Year's festivities, I came across this braided bun updo. Imagine my surprise when I learned that it was "brought to you by Lauren Conrad" of The Hills fame. LC, as we first called her, and some pals have a blog and youtube channel called thebeautydeptartment.com devoted to hair and makeup tutorials. I just spent the last hour watching video after video! Talk about being inspired!

When forgetting for just a moment...

Sometimes, I see a picture like the one above and think wow how delicious. In that moment, I forget. I forget that I won't eat anything like that ever again (or at least not without going to great lengths). I forget that I have this disease. Then the moment is over and my heart breaks and sinks in thousands of pieces right down to my traitorous stomach. Then I move on.

Best way to start the weekend is with bottomless mimosas. Trying out the bottomless buffet at Ironside.

First dates

Went on a first date today with someone I met on Match. I've always dreaded first dates. What I realized though is that the date part is fun, the whole getting to know someone new. It's the goodbye that's awkward. Is he going to go for the kiss? Is that what he's thinking about right now as we circle around this long goodbye? Oh, wait he's going for a hug... or, no, he's going for a kiss but I've turned my head because I thought it was a hug and he's now awkwardly kissing my hair!
